Step 1:

If you don’t have a domain name and a website set up, this will be the first thing you need to do. Be sure your domain name is catchy and easy to remember! Need help or get it done for you, click here.

Step 2:

Submit your website to search engines and directories. There is a course of ways to do this and depending on your choice, will determine how long until it is listed and how much time you consume submitting your URL. One way is to manually submitting to each engine or directory, click here for a listing. This way is one of the cheapest ways, but it will consume large amounts of your time. Another cheap way, but less time consuming is utilizing a free submission service, click here for a listing. Although cheap and effortless, your website will only be submitted to a few engines and directories. Both of these ways could take up to six weeks before your website is listed. The other is a paid submission service, which can be very costly, but will require very little work on your part and your website will normally be listed within on week, click here for a listing.

Step 3:

Depending on your choice of search engine and directory submission, you may have up to six weeks to complete your next few tasks to generate traffic. You will need to build yourself banner ads and text link ads. You will need these for other steps in this process. Need help or get it done for you, click here. One other thing you will need to build is classifieds and email ads.

Step 4:

Now you will need to get yourself a website hosted for free, click here for my recommended hosting service. You may be asking yourself, “why do I need two websites?” The reason is this is the key to building up your traffic. This free website will be your networking and referral generation system, which will be loaded with links to your main website. By adding links to your main website on this free website, you will unknowingly be increasing your traffic and page rank of your main website. NOTE: You need to submit this website to search engines and directories too!

Step 5:

Now you will need to start joining all of the different traffic, banner and link exchanges. You may use this listings provided on this site. We made the links so that they open in a new window, this way it is easier and quicker for you. If you are wondering about joining all of these, you don’t have to but when you use this website’s source code you will need to change the anchors for your referrals. If you choose not to join all of them, leave the anchors of those you choose not to join as is. But remember this system is so that you can build up your own network of referrals so that your main website’s traffic increases.

NOTE: As you join keep track of your user id’s and/or usernames, these will be used on your referral links.

Step 6:

Now that you have built both of your websites, submitted to the search engines and directories, and joined all of the exchanges, get your friends and family involved. They are the beginning of your first network, they may know of people that have websites that they are trying to promote.

With your websites listed in the search engines and directories, the exchanges and friends and family, you will start to see a substantial traffic growth in about two months. Two months is about the normal timeframe for the traffic to start. Unlike the false claims of increased traffic within the first week, we will be right up front with you. You would have to be very lucky to have a substantial increase within a month, let alone a week. It may take over a week for a search engine to index your site. It took Google over two months to completely index my main website and Yahoo still hasn’t finished. So be patient and continue to work to promote your site by hitting the street too.
